The Honor Council is made up of six members. Three are students elected during the annual general elections and three are faculty members appointed by the Dean.The Honor Council has jurisdiction over any conduct by a student which is prohibited by the Student Code of Professional Responsibility.

The Student Bar Association (SBA) is the governing body for the students at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. The SBA represents the concerns and interests of the law school student body and sponsors a variety of extracurricular events.
